Model

In the sport of tennis, “modeling” is one of the most powerful ways to help a child understand a desired skill. A coach demonstrates the best way to do hold your grip, position your feet, and swing the racquet…all with the intention of the child enjoying the best results.

The truth is that parenting is no different. Your children are watching everything you do whether you think they’re watching or not. They don’t even realize that they’re picking up on your behaviors – both positive and negative. If you’re going to be the parent God has called you to be, Coach Randy will help you begin to strategically “model” the types of values, attitudes, and behaviors that you want your child to exemplify. And, of course, this not only benefits your child, but it benefits your life as well!

Instruct

When a tennis coach is “instructing” a student, he or she is intentionally giving the child information in a way they can understand it and feel comfortable with it. Although it may be challenging information, it must be delivered in a way that the child can assimilate it if there’s any chance of them translating it into action. A skilled coach takes personality, giftedness, demeanor, experience, and stage of life into consideration all along the way.

As in tennis, children don’t automatically know what direction to go in life. They aren’t born with a built-in set of values and skills to live a successful, God-honoring life. It’s your role as a parent to “instruct” them in an intentional way to help them develop into the young man or woman that they were uniquely created to be. Coach Randy will empower you to instruct your child in a way that results in their reliance on God, biblical values, and self-discipline.

Encourage

In every sport, children need to feel great about what they’re learning and see the results at the same time. The choice of a coach’s words, tone of voice, and body language are critical to the learning process. If a child is built up through genuine encouragement, their development of important skills is vastly accelerated compared to coaching techniques that involve shame, manipulation, and harsh correction.

Coach Randy believes in the power of positive affirmation to propel a child forward in their development process. As you “encourage” your son or daughter, you are literally pouring courage into your child’s life as their parent. They look to you with wide-open eyes for a blessing that only you can give. Coach Randy will teach you how to express a heart of love for your child through intentional words of encouragement…even in the most challenging situations.
